Only two bulldozers were used in the
construction of the original dam, completed in 1930.
Resource Conservation Groups
Resource
Groups are comprised of interested stakeholders committed
working with each other and with SCE&G to identify project
issues and to develop recommendations for addressing/resolving
the issues. They address process issues and provide a
forum for further discussion and cooperation. Also,
there will be smaller teams whose focus will be on resolution
of specific
ecological issues and related studies (Technical Committees).
There are seven resource conservation groups for this project:

Announcements
The History Channel is airing a special on the efforts required in
raising the crashed B-25 Mitchell from the waters of Lake Murray. The
salvage and recovery efforts occurred late last year and early part
of this year.
Islands (primarily Bomb Island) within Lake Murray were used as practice
targets by Doolittle's Raiders before launching their raid on Japan.
Doolittle's Raid was the United States first major strike on Japan after
the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Currently, there are 2 B-25's remaining
in the murky waters of Lake Murray.
